Interior Insights: Laura Hammett

Interior Insights: Laura Hammett - Armac Martin

For those coveting polished country decor, we have the most beautiful kitchen to inspire you from the home of Laura Hammett, Creative Director at the interior architecture and design studio of the same moniker. The elegant open-plan space highlights the charm of a neutral palette, with a focus on the luxurious materials chosen to create a refined country design that will be enjoyed for years to come. Showcasing brass cabinet hardware from our Belgrave collection throughout, let us share with you our favourite features.

The Kitchen

Channel Laura’s aesthetic and opt for a duo of textures to give subtle contrast to the structural elements.

Add glass pendant lights and spotlights for a soft glow and keep decorative items to a minimum.

Laura explains: ‘The kitchen in our new home is what I would describe as classic country with a twist. I had dreamt of a kitchen like this for years and wanted that timeless feel but often find that so many kitchens of this style can look the same. I wanted to mix up the materials and introduced a timber wall unit and island to go with the cabinets. I cannot express how much I love this room and pinch myself every morning when I walk in.'

We Love: The Breakfast Nook

Features our Belgrave Appliance Pull in size 448mm and Belgrave Knob in size 32mm both in our satin antique satin lacquered finish.

The seamless design of Laura’s built-in breakfast nook allows daily essentials to be neatly stored away whilst freeing up worktop space too. Nestled behind concertina doors, the interior of the bespoke cabinetry is as significant as the exterior to house a functional display that blends effortlessly with the rest of the kitchen when on show.

We Love: The Bespoke Island

Features our Belgrave Knob in size 32mm in our satin antique satin lacquered finish.

Islands always make a statement point in the kitchen.

To mirror the style of Laura’s freestanding design, opt for traditional marble paired with warm wood and aged brass hardware for timeless appeal.

‘The island was inspired by a French butcher's block and has a real presence in the space - it contains just enough storage in the drawers but feels light because it’s raised. We wanted everything in our home to be very natural and so we chose the Calacatta Alto from Samson Marble for the top which is a really soft veined white marble, finished off with an Ogee edge profile for a classic touch’ notes Laura.

Laura shares, ‘I always see ironmongery as the ‘jewellery’ of a design and so this is where I wanted to have something really special...

The Belgrave collection was perfect for bringing something classic to the cabinetry; the long appliance pulls are real showpieces and add something unique to the tall doors.’
