A.W. Murfin & Sons is a family business now managed by a second generation of cabinet makers employing skills that have been passed from father to sons and to employees.
Founded in 1970 by Arthur William Murfin the objective of the business was to restore antique furniture for the international buyers that sought to acquire the unique design, craftsmanship and quality of traditional English furniture.
Through out the following two decades the workshops restored furniture that dated from the sixteenth century to the reign of Queen Victoria. Fine quality oak, walnut, mahogany and satinwood were amongst the timbers that were worked with on a daily basis. The wide ranging skills that were needed to restore antiques included cabinet making, carving, veneering, turning and polishing. All these skills in the business were united together with the founders knowledge of the construction methods of the different periods of English furniture.
